Mr & Mrs: John and Sonya

Jack and Ruby have just begun, and yet already we have been so lucky to be able to capture so much love. John and Sonya were no different. What an amazingly beautiful couple. And judging by the number of guests at their wedding, we aren’t the only ones who think so!

After five long years of dating (long if you ask Sonya anyway), John finally proposed this winter on a trip to Minneapolis. It was the call everyone had been waiting for! A summer wedding was scheduled and the planning begun. Sonya spent endless hours pouring over wedding blogs and magazines, wanting every detail of her charming country wedding to be just right. More mason jars than you can count were collected from friends, aunts, and cousins and the local thrift store. Shoes were bought, a dress was found, the yard was carefully cared for, not a branch out of place. Their gorgeous outdoor ceremony was to be held on Sonya’s parents yard, under the beautiful canopy of trees.

The morning of the wedding we met Sonya at Tracy’s Day Spa, where already at 7:30am the texting had begun. “What’s the forecast”, “what does it say now?”, John checked the weather radar over, and over, and over again. It was supposed to rain at 1pm… then 2…. thundershowers late afternoon…. We went on with the day, the boys out for a bit of golf and some breakfast while the girls did what girls do! Pictures began, and still no rain. We enjoyed our day with John and Sonya and their wedding party, though still the texts continued. “It’s raining in Winkler, is the wedding still outside…?”. A final decision soon had to be made. With still not a drop from the sky above Rosengart, and many friends ready to rush sound equipment indoors at the first sign of rain, it was decided. The wedding would stay outdoors. It was what Sonya and John had dreamed of for their day. They weren’t about to get scared away!

The wedding began without a hitch. The bride walked down the aisle, hand tucked inside her father’s arm, his eyes blurry with tears. The kleenexes came out, the bride was handed over to her groom. The pastor spoke words of love, of God, of friendship and marriage. In the magic of it all, a song was forgotten… the ceremony went on. John and Sonya spoke their vows that they had written for each other, words full of love and emotion. The groom kissed his bride and the Pastor announced the new Mr. and Mrs. John and Sonya rushed down the aisle and into each others arms. They were whisked away with their wedding party almost instantly, and everyone rose to leave.

As if God was waiting, the skies opened up and the rain fell freely. But for one forgotten song, we would have all been drenched!!!!

Moustaches were a little something fun to bring a long since John is in a band called Link and the Moustaches!

And some of the lovely details from the day….

Leah and Daivin

Just passed the one year mark from their wedding Leah and Daivin found themselves all dressed up again, this year it was not to walk down the aisle but for a fun photoshoot.  I (Becky) had the chance to photograph Leah and Daivin at their Winnipeg reception last spring but this was the first time to see her dress that she wore in Jamaica…it was beautiful! (And so is she!)

Leah and Daivin….what can I say about these two?  There is sooooo much love between them!  Daivin is such an attentive husband and you can easily see that first and foremost he is always looking out for his wife.  Leah always looks at Daivin with so much love and adoration, there is no doubt he is the center of her world.  Love  just radiates wherever these two go….making our job so easy!

Stay tuned for the video of this shoot from Epic Videography!  On to the photos and SLIDESHOW!

Leah and Daivin – The Video

Like with many of our first shoots, Mark and Chris were along for the ride on Leah and Daivin’s shoot too.  Gathering footage for our launch video and for this little gem for Leah and Daivin to have as a keepsake.  We loved having these two along on our shoots and would welcome them along on any shoot with open arms!  They added so much fun to our sessions!!  I was joking the other day that they are only serious 97% of the time….and the 3% of the time they are serious, they’re probably sleeping.  Check out this sweet video from Epic Videography!
