Girls are a Girls Best Friend 2010!
Before Jack and Ruby was even the smallest idea, the Best Friends contest was born. It essentially was the beginning of Jack and Ruby, but we had no idea then what we had started! Our first shoot together, the Best Friends Contest was just a way to find someone to pose for us. Rather than just ask someone we decided to make it fun and create a contest out of it. We were so happy with the response to the contest and we had a ton of fun doing it, so we decided to do it again this year.
Unfortunately our original shoot day with our winners, Kari and Meg, was rained out. Our busy schedules, as well as theirs, didn’t give us many options as far as rescheduling went and we were only able to meet up over a month later. It was well worth the wait, Kari and Meg did NOT disappoint. They brought with them tons of energy, lots of laughs, and a trunk FULL of clothes. We were in heaven! Shooting in July landed us right smack in the middle of wedding season, without any time to spare for our extra project, so poor Kari and Meg have waited FOUR months to see these images. We want to thank them, as well as our awesome readers, for their patience. It’s been a busy season, and now that things are slowing down we can finally share our fun day with you.
While we’re talking thank-you’s we also owe two HUGE thank-you’s to Tracy for the make-up and Jayci for doing Meg’s gorgeous hair! Kari has self proclaimed “hair that has been known to make stylists cry” so she took care of her gorgeous locks herself. Stay tuned for a Friends of Jack and Ruby post coming up featuring Jayci and her new salon in Winkler!
So, before we move on to the pictures and the slideshow, back to the theme of this contest….friendship. We thought it would be fitting to ask Kari and Megan the following questions about what makes their BFF so special:
1. Describe the other in one word.
2. What’s your favorite thing about the other?
3. If you could borrow one thing in the other’s closet, what would it be?
4. The other’s favorite word?
5. The other’s worst habit?
6. The other’s biggest talent?
7. Where would they go on their dream vacation?
8. 2 things the other wants to do in their lifetime?
Here’s what Kari had to say about Meg:
1. Just one?! Lovable. (and fun, outgoing, talented, generous, kind, beautiful… really just one?!)
2. She is a super positive person with a generous heart.
3. The red plaid shirt from our last shopping adventure… Unfortunately I could never pull of the color like Meg does.
4. “Seriously?!”
5. Uh, texting… but that goes for both of us ![]()
6. FLORAL DESIGN. Obviously.
7. Somewhere romantic… I will choose Venice off the top of my head.
8.Run a successful ‘family’ business. Relish every moment of being a wife and mom to her two little tootsies.
Here’s what Meg had to say about Kari:
1. lovely
2. her laugh
3. :) the contents
4. Seriously!
5. fabric shopping
6. Mad artistic skills
7. Spain?
8. create a fashion line, have a puppy
