Last summer we dreamed of doing a fun lakeside shoot with a fun couple.  We dreamed of canoes, smores, campfires and sleeping bags.  Unfortunately we were simply too, too busy to make it happen.  As we scheduled this season, we set aside a day in September for this dream shoot of ours.  On the calendar it was labeled “Fun Fall Couples Shoot”.  We had no couple, just an idea.  Fast forward to about a month or two ago, as we were planning with Ranae for her and Elliot’s engagement shoot.  We asked what she had in mind.  Her email read:  ”For the engagement shoot I was thinking a “summer nights” feel. Heading out to a lake, grabbing a couple fishing rods, hanging out the dock, dipping our toes into the water, cozying up by the fire, lying in the grass, etc…”  Um…. can you say perfect???  So our fun fall couples shoot turned into a VERY fun summer engagement shoot with Elliot and Ranae.  We were extremely excited!

Ranae and Elliot are the kinda clients we dream of.  Ranae is extremely organized and knows what she wants, and Elliot knows that keeping her happy is #1.  We kid, lol (sorta).  Seriously though, Elliot came equipped with fishing rods and campfire gear, and Ranae brought all the extras.  We found an awesome tent on ebay and we were all set.

As per usual, we were battling the elements, and our rainy day forecast was not on our side.  We all decided to take our chances and met up at the lake only to wait it out in the car for half an hour.  The rain ended and left us with the absolute perfect evening and a lake that was almost abandoned, perfect for us to shoot to our hearts content!

Being natural light photographers we spend most of the days leading up to a shoot checking the weather.  We often wish we could predict what the sky was going to do, and the hourly forecast is rarely accurate.  Yesterday was no exception.  From Friday already we were texting with Ranae, guessing at what the weather would do, and trying to come up with a back up plan.  Saturday arrived and still the forecast was not looking promising.  It was so iffy, and we were unsure of what to do.  We really wanted to go ahead with the shoot, but didn’t want to have everyone drive out just for it to be cancelled.  Ranae and Elliot were on board for just going for it and hoping for the best.  We decided to meet earlier than the 6:30 plan.  Just as we all arrived it started to rain.  We all waited it out in our cars, and, funny enough, the rain stopped at 6:25… right before our original start time!

We had a lovely evening with these two.  We can’t wait to show you more!!!

We spent a beautiful June afternoon with Jenievah and Anthony exploring the Manitoba countryside for their engagement session.  They showed up trusting us 100% so we took them to some places we’ve had in our back pockets for a while and to a spot we found on the way home from Ike and Kristen’s e-session and had been waiting to use!

Jenievah and Anthony were naturals in front of the camera, with little direction from us they got comfortable, enjoyed each other and ignored us! Lots of laughing, kisses and “I love you’s” between these two during their session!  When we asked Jeneivah what makes her and Anthony a perfect match she said “we just love to love each other”…awwe, how cute is that?  And how cute are they together!  We can’t wait for the fun we are sure to have with them on their wedding day!!
